Shell’s gas and Power in Middle East

    John Mills joined Shell in 1978 after graduating with a degree in Physics and a PhD in Astrophysics from Imperial College, London. His initial years with Shell were spent at Thornton Research Centre where, amongst other things, he worked on fuel combustion and performance. He has subsequently undertaken a wide range of both corporate and commercial roles across the company including: trading, marketing, sales, business consultancy, strategy and mergers & acquisitions.

    From 2001 until late 2005 John was President of Showa Shell Sekiyu, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in which Shell has a 35% interest. On his return to the Shell Group he became Vice President - Group Strategy with a focus on the long-term strategic direction of the company. He has recently been appointed Executive Vice President with responsibility for Shell’s gas and Power business in the Middle East and South Asia and is based in Dubai.

    John is a Fellow of the Institute of Energy and of the Institute of Physics. He is married with two daughters and has a keen interest in opera, motorcycles and scuba diving.
