Jamal Khashoggie
Editor In Chief Al-Watan Newspaper / Saudi Arabia
Jamal Khashoggie was born in Medina, Saudi Arabia, and graduated from Louisiana State University.
Mr. Khashoggie began his career as a correspondent for the Saudi Gazette Daily, and continued his career in journalism writing for various daily and weekly Arab newspapers from 1987 to 1990. From 1991 to 1999, he was appointed as a foreign correspondent to cover the events in such countries as Afghanistan, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan and the Middle East. He was appointed a Deputy Editor In Chief of the Arab Daily News newspaper from 1999 to 2003, and then the Editor In Chief of Al-Watan daily Newspaper in 2003. Al-Watan is considered to be the pioneering reformist newspaper in Saudi Arabia. He was appointed shortly thereafter, as the media advisor to the Saudi Ambassador in Washington and continued in this post until 2007 AD; then he returned to the presidency as the Editor in Chief of Al-Watan Saudi newspaper.
Prior to Sept. 11, Jamal Khashoggie had conducted several interviews with Osama Bin Laden. Mr. Khashoggie worked as a political commentator for local Saudi Television, MBC and BBC stations, and AlJazeera. He also publishes weekly articles in many Middle Eastern newspapers.
