Amr Moussa
Secretary General of the Arab League
Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League, was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1936. He studied law at Cairo University, and began his career at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in 1958. He was the director of the Interorganisation Department in Egypt from 1977 to 1981, and again from 19986 to 1990. Mr. Moussa served as an Alternate Representative at the United Nations during the 1981/82 term. Up until his appointment to the Arab League in May 2001, Mr. Moussa served as the Egyptian Foreign Minister.
Amr Moussa has been awarded several medals and decorations from countries including Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina and Germany. He was granted “The Nile Sash” in Egypt in 2001, and “The Neelayn Sash” in Sudan as well in 2001.
